At Maroochydore State High School, we believe that all students have the potential to exercise leadership and influence others in a responsible manner.  This can include both formal and informal opportunities.

Student leaders are vital in creating a positive school culture for everyone.  Student leaders represent the school in a variety of events, are the voice of the student body, they organise fun events and fundraising activities, help out the local community and strive to make every day school life a little better.

Students in Years 7 and 8 have the opportunity to become Cultural Leaders, Sports Leaders and Indigenous Leaders. They also have the opportunity to be Peer Leaders and to work within the Chaplaincy Committee.

Year 9 and 10 students have the opportunity to be a Leo Leader. Leo clubs are a sponsored affiliation of Lions Clubs International that encourages young men and women to serve others in their community and around the world.

Year 11 students have the opportunity to become a Gold Badge Leader. These positions generally include the School Captains, Student Council roles, Cultural, Indigenous and Sports House Leaders.

Leaders are selected for a 12 month period, starting in Semester 2 of one year and concluding in Semester 2 of the following year once the new leaders are appointed.

Students are awarded their positions at our annual Student Leadership Badge Ceremony held in Week 4, Term 3 each year.
