Maroochydore SHS is a highly regarded educational
institution on the Sunshine Coast with a strong history of student high performance.
Our pathways to success continue to
deliver positive and diverse student learning outcomes. We benefit from excellent school/community
relationships, and from excellent staff, volunteers and support from our P&C and
School Council.
Opening in 1964, Maroochydore SHS has been shaping
successful graduates for more than 50 years and has been the springboard for so
many to go on to live productive lives, either within this geographical
community or for many, as members of a global community.
All of these elements, along with our status as an
Independent Public School, provides us with the impetus to look at establishing
a mechanism for engaging our former attendees and graduates. To this end, Maroochydore
SHS has established an Alumni.
As identified in the IPS Philanthropy and Partnerships
documentation, educational philanthropy is the “planned and structured giving
of actions, money and resources designed to improve schooling experiences and
outcomes”. The establishment of an alumni encourages former attendees and
graduates of the school to volunteer, donate money or in kind gifts or advocate
for the school.
The objectives of the project are:
- Create stronger connections (networking) between alumni, alma mater, current students and the community.
- Celebrate the success of alumni by promoting / sharing stories to students, staff and the community.
- Further strengthen the transition for current students as they move into work and further study.
- Create opportunities for alumni to contribute back into the alma mater.
The alumni will be governed through a small, representative
Governance Group (GG) that will manage the implementation of the alumni and
provide feedback to the key stakeholders.
The Operations Manager for Alumni activities is our
Business Services Manager.
