Principal’s welcome

On behalf of the students, staff and parents of Maroochydore State High School, welcome to our school web site.

I hope that you enjoy browsing these pages, that you are able to find the information that you are seeking and that you get a good “feel” for our school.

To our prospective international students, you will find a wealth of information in the general website, but also in the Enrolments menu under “International Students”.

Our school values of ‘Safety, Respect and Learning’ provide the foundation and guidelines for everything that we do in our school – how we conduct ourselves, how we relate to each other, how we plan, make decisions, how we develop policies and how we operate day to day.

Everyone is expected to:-
  • Be a learner – Make the most of every learning opportunity and allow others to do the same.
  • Be respectful – Respect myself, all people in the school community, the ground and facilities.
  • Be safe – Act safely and be accountable for my actions.
Our school motto also provides an insight as to what is important to us at Maroochydore High. The Latin “Niti et Servire” means ‘to strive and serve’, so we have a very strong focus on effort, doing your best, trying hard, as well as the importance of being good, contributing citizens who help others as well as themselves.
While we respect and build on our past, our work is grounded in the present and our outlook is future oriented as we endeavour to equip students with the skills and attitudes they will need to create a bright and prosperous future. Our challenge is to address the intellectual, personal, social and economic development of our young adults at a time of great change in the world and at a time when ideas about the goals of education are undergoing considerable change. This is a challenge that we relish and our commitment to meeting the changing needs of our young people in a rapidly changing world is reflected in our innovative and dynamic curriculum, rich digital learning experiences and excellent teaching and resourcing.
Maroochydore High is very well resourced with a mixture of extensive gardens and playing fields, well maintained older buildings, many of which are air conditioned, and state of the art modern resources, such as the Coastal Cookery Trade Training Centre, Science facilities, Industrial Technology and Design Centre and also under construction is our new purpose built Senior Secondary Centre to support students as we enter into a new era of Senior Education (SATE).  All classrooms have digital projectors and the entire school has wifi coverage.
Our greatest resource though is our people. The staff of Maroochydore High are experienced, highly qualified and dedicated to improving students’ outcomes. They have worked tirelessly over the past five years to “raise the bar” and the outcomes that our Year 12 students have achieved are testament to their efforts. The work of our support staff, who keep the operations of our school ticking over, is also outstanding.
Our dynamic  Parents’ and Citizens’ Association provides a forum for our families, is a highly respected consultative body providing valuable advice and feedback and is also a wonderful financial supporter of our students – it’s a group in which I would urge parents to become involved. Our school also enjoys many valuable and productive partnerships with local businesses, schools and broader state and national organisations – all engaged with in order to provide better opportunities and outcomes for our students.
Welcome to Maroochydore State High School – a school where students strive, serve, succeed and shine!
