Graduates Gain National Sporting Honours

19/02/2014
Maroochydore High graduates James Bazely and Shae Wools-Cobb both achieved national sporting honours over the Christmas 2013 holiday season.  James, a 2012 graduate, has been selected in the Australian Under 19 Cricket team to play in the U19 World Cup and Shae, a 2013 graduate, won the Australian Open Golf Junior Championship at Brookwater Golf Club.

James was a member of the Maroochydore High Cricket Academy from Year 10 to Year 12 and captained the open team.  He currently plays for the Sunshine Coast Scorchers where as an all-rounder he has a bowling average of 19 and a batting average of 26.

Shae has been knocking on the door for a big win like the Australian Junior Open for some time.  During 2013 he was a member of the winning Queensland team that competed at the Australian Schools Golf Championships in Victoria; the Queensland boys hadn’t won since 2005.   Shae was  one shot off the leaders in the 36 hole stroke play and then went on to win all of his match play games by convincing margins and his brilliant effort over the week was rewarded with being named in the six  boy Australian Merit Team.
