The Year 11 Coastal Cookery (Certificate II in Kitchen Operations) class consists of 17 students from a number of Sunshine Coast schools. The course is delivered over a period of 16 months every Tuesday (Year 11) and Wednesday (Year 12) afternoons.
After completing a number of lessons on safety and hygiene, the Year 11 students have now moved into the commercial kitchen to start their practical component. Students looked very professional in their chef uniforms as they learnt their first techniques – knife handling and cutting skills with Chef and Trainer Nelson Palmer (TAFE East Coast). We look forward to seeing how the students progress over the next few months – it is already very obvious we have a great deal of talent in the group.
The Year 12 group start their restaurant service periods in Term 2 (Wednesday evenings). Students will prepare a range of dinner menus for family and staff groups. These dinners will be advertised early in Term 2  – due to their popularity, please book early.
