Monday 1st of September was a significant day in the life of each of the students of our Class of 2016.  On that day ,our current Year 10 group attended the 10th Annual Beacon Positive Futures Charter Signing.  Our school is recognised by the Beacon Foundation as a Platinum Alumni School; that is we are a school that has demonstrated great success over the last decade in steering our students into positive earning or learning futures.
At the ceremony, the Year Ten students took the following pledge:
I will pursue a positive pathway
in future education, training or employment
and I willingly commit
to achieving personal success
not only for myself
but also for my community.
This pledge, which was followed by the signing of a public charter that will hang in Jubilee Hall, is a commitment to the school motto to strive and to serve.  In making this commitment, our students are committing to meeting our expectation of graduating with the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and either an OP of worth or a Vocational Certificate III.  I congratulate each of these young people on taking this pledge; I wish them every success with living up to the pledge and I look forward to working with the students and their families to ensure that we can celebrate the successful meeting of this pledge when they graduate on Friday 18 November in 2016.
Thanks are also extended to Miss Fiona Simpson (MP) and Mr Benny Pike for their support of the ceremony and for their continued support of the young people of Maroochydore SHS.
